Why this Peterloon wedding stayed with me

I have always loved photographing at Peterloon because there is something visually interesting almost everywhere you turn. Matt and Morgan's wedding was such a beautiful example of that. Morgan already had a very clear sense of style when I photographed their engagement session, so I had a feeling the wedding would be special. The finished celebration felt elegant, minimal and chic, with a draped reception tent, white-and-green florals and a Galia Lahav gown that was impossible not to notice.

Peterloon already brings so much character to a wedding that the design does not have to compete with the setting. Matt and Morgan kept the palette restrained, letting the estate, the florals and the reception tent each have their own moment. The photographs also show how different the same reception space can feel as the day moves on — bright and polished while everything is set, then warmer and more energetic once dinner, speeches and dancing begin.

Let the Estate Do Some of the Design Work

One of the reasons I love Peterloon is that the architecture already carries so much visual character. For Matt and Morgan, the brick facade, formal entrance and surrounding grounds became part of the look of the wedding rather than simply a backdrop. The decor stayed refined and selective, which allowed the estate to remain visible in the photographs. If you are planning here, that is worth remembering: a venue with this much personality does not need every surface to be decorated.

The draped tent is one of the details I remember most from this wedding. In daylight it felt light, soft and almost architectural, with the neutral draping framing the tables and florals. Later, once the room filled with guests and the evening lighting took over, the same space felt warmer and much more alive. Matt and Morgan kept the design polished without making it feel overdone. White-and-green florals, clean tablescapes and neutral draping complemented Peterloon's architecture and gave the reception a calm, elegant feel. Karen and the KMC Weddings team shaped the planning and design, while Floral V brought in the floral layer that tied the spaces together beautifully.

Morgan's Galia Lahav Gown

Morgan's Galia Lahav gown was one of my favorite fashion details from the day. The fit was incredible, the detailing photographed beautifully and the bow gave the dress such a distinctive finish. Against the more restrained palette of the wedding, it had exactly the right amount of drama without feeling disconnected from everything around it.

How the Reception Evolved

I love seeing how this reception changes across the photographs. It begins with a composed, beautifully set dinner space, moves through speeches and the more formal moments, and then loosens completely once everyone reaches the dance floor. That is part of what makes a tented reception so fun to photograph — the room can feel elegant and quiet early in the evening, then become something completely different once the music starts.

A Few Things Matt & Morgan Got Especially Right

They let Peterloon's architecture remain part of the wedding instead of covering it with too much decor. They kept the palette disciplined, which made the florals and fashion stand out even more. The tent worked beautifully in daylight and still felt intimate after dark. And the entire reception had room to change naturally from dinner to speeches to dancing without losing the elegance of the original design.
